Man to face court today over aggravated robbery at deli at Broken Hill, NSW

A man will face court today on charges relating to a robbery in the state’s far west.

About 7.30am on Sunday (3 November 2019), a 55-year-old woman was at a deli in the McCulloch Street Shopping Centre when a man attended the front counter with a can of drink.

As the employee opened the till to process the purchase, it is alleged the man punched her in the side of the face causing her to fall over.

The man removed all cash from the register before fleeing.

Officers attached to Barrier Police District commenced an investigation into the incident.

Following inquiries, a 19-year-old man was arrested at a home on Chapple Lane at Broken Hill about 10.40pm yesterday (Thursday 7 November 2019).

He was taken to Broken Hill Police Station and charged with aggravated robbery and inflict actual bodily harm.

The man was bail refused to appear before Broken Hill Local Court today (Friday 8 November 2019).

Investigations continue.
