McGowan Government delivering quality community facilities at Robinson Reserve

  • New playground, BBQs, picnic seating and accessible toilets for Robinson Reserve
  • $1.5 million allocated to deliver on key McGowan Government election commitment
  • Project represents Stage 1 of the Robinson Reserve Master Plan
  • Robinson Reserve is set for an upgrade thanks to a $1.5 million grant, which will revitalise the area with a new playground, picnic seating areas, path network and accessible toilets for the community.

The project – championed by Balcatta MLA David Michael in the lead-up to the 2017 election – will be delivered in collaboration with the City of Stirling.

Premier Mark McGowan visited Tuart Hill today alongside Mr Michael to view the progress on Stage 1 of the Robinson Reserve upgrades.

The upgrades will deliver a range of community facilities for Robinson Reserve – including a new larger playground, a path network, picnic seating areas, barbecues, extra parking and new accessible public toilets.

The area will also accommodate a range of sport and recreation activities, with new skate and scooter infrastructure, a half-court basketball and netball court, and junior soccer goals.

As stated by Premier Mark McGowan:

“This project will ensure local families have a quality place to kick a ball, ride a bike and enjoy a range of outdoor activities together.

“The Member for Balcatta has championed this project on behalf of his community for some time and I am delighted to be here today to deliver on our 2017 election commitment.

“Grassroots sporting and recreation infrastructure is so important for ensuring we have healthy and active communities, and the State Government is focused on making Tuart Hill and its surrounds a quality place to live and recreate.”

As stated by Balcatta MLA David Michael:

“I have lived in Tuart Hill all my life, so I am proud to deliver this for the local community.

“Tuart Hill, Joondanna and Osborne Park especially have very little public open space, so making sure that space meets the needs of the community is important to me.

“I am working with the City of Stirling to ensure the existing users including the Osborne Park Agricultural Society, the Osborne Park cricket and football clubs and other local groups are supported in planning Stage Two of the Master Plan.”

As stated by City of Stirling Mayor Mark Irwin:

“The City has been working with the community on this project for a number of years and it was exciting to see work on the park and playground begin.

“The new playground will be located closer to the library and community centre, which will not only help connect Robinson Reserve with the wider Main Street precinct but revitalise the reserve area and create even more of a community hub.

“The project would not have been possible without the help of the State Government and we are very grateful for their support.”
