Michael Ferguson misleads parliament

  • How can the minister not know
  • As if the incompetence of the Infrastructure Minister isn’t
bad enough, now Michael Ferguson has misled parliament over the Hobart Airport
    Interchange development.

When asked by Shadow Infrastructure Minister Shane Broad
yesterday, Michael Ferguson insisted the government would not interfere in the
dispute over plans for the site between private landowners and contractors
    Hazell Brothers.

“And yet today he expects us to believe he only ‘found out
this morning’ that the Government applied to be a party to the dispute being
heard by the Planning Appeal Tribunal weeks ago.

“He failed to update the House yesterday when he had the
opportunity, hoping to let the matter lie.

“Either Minister Ferguson has no idea what is happening in
his portfolio or he has misled Parliament.

“The critical question now is how much taxpayer money will be wasted on this appeal because Michael Ferguson reneged on commitments given to landowners in the original design? “Blame for delays on this important project lies squarely at Michael Ferguson’s feet.”
