Millie Screens at Parliament House

NT Government

Free breast screening will be available for women aged 50-74 as Millie the mobile mammography unit visits Parliament House this week.

The screening service will be outside Parliament House from 19-23 April 2021 and will be the last urban stop for Millie before starting a remote screening schedule this year.

Millie is now better than ever following a major upgrade and installation of a new mammography unit last year.

The mobile screening unit operates across 20 regional remote communities over a two year cycle including Central Australia, Barkly, Katherine, Top End and Arnhem regions.

Mammograms are used to detect breast cancers early to increase chances of survival.

More than 1000 Territorian women living in remote and regional areas are expected to receive a free screening via Millie this year.

While women aged 40-49 and over 74 years of age are welcome to screen with Millie, BreastScreen NT recommends women discuss breast screening with their doctor.

The Commonwealth Government funds BreastScreen NT under the BreastScreen Australia program while the Northern Territory Government funds operational costs to support the program.
