PETER DUTTON TO BE APPOINTED TO AUSTRALIAN WAR MEMORIAL COUNCIL
I intend to recommend to the Governor-General, Her Excellency Sam Mostyn AC, the appointment of the Hon Peter Dutton as a member of the Council of the Australian War Memorial.
Mr Dutton served in Australia’s Parliament for two decades and, as Minister for Defence, he drove major reforms focused on national security and military readiness.
In his post parliamentary life he remains passionate about strengthening Australia’s values, institutions and national interests.
Mr Dutton is proposed to be appointed to the Australian War Memorial Council for a three-year period commencing on 14 November 2026.
The Council is responsible for the conduct and control of the affairs and policy of the Memorial, including the nature of its displays and exhibits, maintaining the Commemorative Area as well as undertaking a major expansion project.
On behalf of the Australian Government, I’d like to acknowledge and thank Mr Glenn Keys AO who has stepped down from Council after almost 6 years of dedicated service.
Mr Keys has served as Chair of the Finance and Audit Committee of Council, playing an important role in enabling the Memorial expansion.
Mr Keys will attend his last Council meetings on 12 & 13 November 2026.
