Much-needed amenities for Crescent Head Aquatic Centre

Work is underway for the installation of a much-needed amenities block within the grounds of the Crescent Head Aquatic Centre on Baker Drive.

The new prefabricated facility was delivered by truck to the centre with work starting on the installation last week. It includes four showers, an accessible shower and toilet and four toilets.

The project, worth $320,000, has been fully funded under Round Two of a NSW Government Stronger Country Communities Fund grant.

Kempsey Shire Council’s Manager Commercial Business, Gayleen Burley, said it was great news for the community.

“The Crescent Head Aquatic Centre is a well-used facility by residents and visitors a like so will be extremely beneficial now that the pool has reopened, particularly during the peak season,” she said.

“It will enable pool users to easily and safely access the amenities without having to leave the facility, which was previously the case. This will be particularly great for families of young children and the elderly.”

Renee and Mason Marchment have managed the pool for the last 19 years, with the Marchment family as managers for 38 years.

With the pool attracting up to 300 residents and visitors per day in the peak season, Renee said the new amenities will be a welcome addition to the centre.

“We are so grateful for Council’s hard work in attaining the grant and also the State Government of course for recognising it as an important need for our community,” she said.
