Council has amended the design for a new playground at Glenhaven Oval after receiving submissions from the community.
Additional items will be included in the chosen design, which was selected in June 2021, through consultation with local residents.
Mayor of the Hills Shire, Dr Michelle Byrne thanked residents for their input throughout the design process.
“We have listened to what the community want for the new Glenhaven Oval playground and have made some additions to original design,” Mayor Byrne said.
“Thank you to everyone who took the time to have their say on how we could improve the overall playground design.
“Extra rubber soft fall has been added, along with two picnic settings and rainbow chimes, to cater for children of all ages and abilities.
“I’m very excited to see works commence on this highly anticipated project so that the playground can be enjoyed by children, families, residents and visitors to the area for many years to come,” Mayor Byrne added.
Federal Member for Berowra, Julian Leeser MP said he is delighted to see this project move to the next step.
“The playground is going to be a wonderful place for children to play in Glenhaven. I am pleased the Federal Government has been able to support the Hills Shire Council through the Local Roads and Community Infrastructure program,” Mr Leeser said.
The playground will also include:
  • A crocodile themed multiplay area;
  • Double bay swings with pod;
  • A balance beam;
  • An inclusive trampoline;
  • A snake themed springer; and
  • A carousel.
This project is being funded under the Federal Government’s Phase Two of the Local Roads and Community Infrastructure (LRCI) Program, which aims to support local councils to deliver essential infrastructure, while creating vital jobs and boosting the economy during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Construction is due to commence towards the end of October, with weather and COVID-19 restrictions permitting.
