One of Victoria’s oldest thoroughbred racing venues is about to get one of the state’s newest dedicated ambulance tracks, thanks to more than $30,000 funding to the Bairnsdale Racing Club from the Andrews Labor Government.
Minister for Racing Martin Pakula today announced the boost from the Victorian Racing Industry Fund to relocate the current ambulance track to the inside of the racecourse.
Racing Victoria is matching the funding contribution of the Labor Government.
By relocating the track from the outside of the track it will provide a safer environment for patrons, jockeys and horses as well as a dedicated space for the ambulance service’s important work.
Once complete, the inside track will feature a crushed rock surface with drainage and a new culvert crossing.
Since 2014, the Government has approved $216,100 to support four thoroughbred racing events and eight infrastructure projects for Bairnsdale Racing Club.
The thoroughbred racing industry in regional Victoria generates $716.9 million for the economy and helps sustain more than 6,100 full-time-equivalent jobs in the region.
