The story of an Australian family’s decision to spend a year living in rural France, will be the focus of the next Library Up Late in Orange.
Library Up Late is an occasional event where Orange City Library opens after hours to host authors talks and well-known personalities around the region.
On Friday 14 April, the library will welcome new author Rachael Mogan McIntosh as she launches her first book Pardon My French. Orange City Council Services Policy Committee Chair, Cr Mel McDonell is pleased to see the library regularly hosting community events and talks by authors.
“It is always good to be able to welcome people at the library after hours for these kind of talks with a smaller crowd,” Cr McDonell said.
“Today’s libraries are much more than places to borrow books. They are places to learn and discover, and the up-late format is a great way to reach a new audience.”
Author Rachael Mogan McIntosh and her husband Keith decided to pack up their three small children and move to rural France for a year.
The resulting book, Pardon My French, is a candid and comical love letter about the imperfect reality of family life in France, with three valuable lessons for overcoming adversity in the book.
“I invite everyone to come along to enjoy some music, the author talk and light refreshments as Rachael Mogan McIntosh shares her memories of living in France, with all the challenges involved in a complete change of country and culture,” Cr McDonell said.
Author Rachael Mogan McIntosh is a mum of three, crisis counsellor and community trainer from the south coast of NSW. Her writing has appeared in publications across Australia, France and the USA.
