New Chair appointed to Kimberley Development Commission

  • Tom Stephens OAM appointed Chair of the Kimberley Development Commission
  • Regional Development Minister Alannah MacTiernan has today announced the appointment of Tom Stephens as Chair of the Kimberley Development Commission.

    Mr Stephens has a deep connection to the Kimberley and to regional Western Australia, serving in the Western Australian Parliament from 1982 to 2013 in various roles including as Minister for Regional Development.

    He currently serves on the board of the MG Corporation, as well as on the Regional Development Trust.

    Regional Development Commissions are key to the McGowan Government’s job creating agenda on the ground in regional Western Australia, working to grow and diversify the State’s regional economies.

    As stated by Regional Development Minister Alannah MacTiernan:

    “There is enormous potential to diversify the local economy in the Kimberley, helping to strengthen local communities and enrich our State’s most remote region.

    “Tom’s long connection to the Kimberley and deep understanding of regional development will ensure the development commission is at the forefront of driving opportunities and tackling challenges in the north.

    “We thank outgoing Kimberley Development Commission Chair David Mack for his contribution to the region and wish him all the best in his future endeavours.”
