As we approach the Victorian election on 26 November, Council has released a new local election commitment tracker to keep voters in the loop about pledges relating to Hobsons Bay.
The tracker includes commitments relating to Council-owned services, properties or advocacy priorities from all lower-house candidates for the seats of Williamstown, Point Cook and Laverton.
To be included, pledges must:
Be new projects or commitments – not reannouncements of existing projects funded by government;
Have an associated funding amount or contain enough detail to understand exactly what is being funded; and
Relate to Council-owned services, properties, or advocacy priorities.
Mayor of Hobsons Bay, Councillor Peter Hemphill, emphasised that the tracker was not an endorsement for any candidate or party, but a transparent information resource to help residents understand where candidates were committed to delivering for our community.
“There is often a lot of noise surrounding elections and it can be difficult to keep track of who is promising what,” Cr Hemphill said.
“We have created this resource to help our community have a clearer picture of what’s on offer when they cast their ballot.
“I urge all Hobsons Bay residents to visit the tracker and find out what’s being promised for their local community.”
The Hobsons Bay election commitment tracker will be regularly updated until election day.
