New grants awarded to Victorian Agricultural Shows

The Victorian Government is helping Victorian Agricultural and Pastoral Societies boost their COVID recovery.

Over $1 million in funding for 79 events will enable show societies across the state to support free entry for children to shows and field days.

Grants from $750 to more than $90,000 have been awarded under the Government’s one-off investment in the Children Entry COVID Recovery Grants program.

Agriculture Victoria Executive Director, Policy and Programs, Sarah-Jane McCormack, congratulated the successful recipients.

“The grants are an amazing way to ensure more children and families can come and enjoy the offerings of our state’s regional and rural shows.”

“Well done to the shows that have already taken place and look out for all the shows still to come across the state,” said McCormack.

“Regional and rural shows have had a difficult two years, and it’s exciting to see them come back bigger and brighter than ever.”

No matter how big or small, these grants help organisers get shows back up and running.

Regional and rural shows are a fixture of Victorian society, building community spirit by celebrating agriculture in a fun, entertaining, educational and inclusive environment.

Executive Officer of Victorian Agriculture Shows, Rod Bowles said he is delighted to see the grants be awarded to shows right across the state.

“A big thank you to the Victorian Government for supporting the Victorian Agricultural and Pastoral Societies and our recovery from the impacts of COVID-19,” Mr Bowles said.

“We’ve already welcomed back some major shows including the 146th Annual Shepparton Show, the Horsham Agricultural Show and the Mildura Show. But there is plenty more to come including the 167th Warrnambool Show, so keep your eyes peeled!”

The Government is continuing to support Victoria’s shows with the Agricultural and Pastoral Society Grants 2022-23 round.

As with previous years, eligible applicants can apply for up to $10,000 for infrastructure development and business activities to celebrate Victoria’s agricultural communities, practices, industry and produce.

Applications for the Agricultural and Pastoral Society Grants 2022-23 close 21 October.
