Ensuring Tasmanians are safe and healthy at work is a key priority for the Tasmanian Government.
A new farm safety initiative aimed at reducing the risk of sexual harassment and other forms of bullying and harassment in rural Tasmanian workplaces has today been launched.
Sexual harassment and bullying in the workplace is never ok, especially for those in rural locations where support may not be easily accessible.
Staying safe and well is everyone’s responsibility and the more we can do to educate rural employers and workers, the better it is for them and the community as a whole.
This campaign will ensure employers and workers are better informed about what sexual harassment, bullying, and harassment actions are and how they should be treated and managed, particularly in relation to their work health and safety responsibilities.
Developed by Rural Business Tasmania in conjunction with Tasmanian Women in Agriculture and other stakeholders, the practical guidance tools specifically focus on rural workplaces to build respect in the workplace.
Respectful workplaces prevent, respond to and reduce the harm of sexual harassment and other forms of bullying and harassment.
Simple videos have been produced to call out bad behaviours with the tag line “Respect, Manners, Decency: Nuff Said”. The tools also include resources such as downloadable posters for the workplace, policy examples, workplace checklist templates and website details.
The initiative has been made possible through a grant received from the WorkCover Tasmania Board.
