Member for Macedon Mary-Anne Thomas announced the funding at an event at the station on Sunday 16 June.

The fit-for-purpose station will be built at a new location and feature a three-bay motor room, support and meeting areas, offices, turn-out areas, kitchen, training yard, communications infrastructure, fencing and car parking.

The current station was built 35 years and is too small to accommodate the brigade and community’s future needs.

Riddells Creek captain Tom Morley said the funding would upgrade the brigade’s capabilities as well as give them room to grow as the community grows.

“Our members are delighted at the announcement,” Tom said.

“A more modern facility means improved safety, the ability to accommodate new trucks and equipment, a dedicated training space to maintain our professional skills, as well as the opportunity to share spaces with other groups in the community.

“This will allow us to serve our community better as well as encourage member sustainability.”

In announcing the funding Ms Thomas said the Victorian Government’s investment would provide a fit-for-purpose base for our local volunteers and the community.

“Our CFA volunteers play a vital role in the community, especially in Riddells Creek where the brigade is being kept busy as the area continues to grow,” she said.

“This new station will help future proof the emergency fire response in Riddells Creek, by providing the brigade with a larger, fully maintained and operational station.”

The new station is expected to be finished in 2021.
