No cold feet for Halloween weddings at Brisbane’s Registry

No Queensland couples have been spooked from lining up for Halloween weddings this year, with the Brisbane Registry completely booked out for today (October 31).

Luke Carven and Marlie Cameron-Fleet will pledge their souls to one another for eternity at the Brisbane Registry in the late afternoon, surrounded by breathtaking views from the top floor of the Ann Street venue.

“We’ve booked 31 October because we both love the darker side of things and didn’t want to have a ‘traditional’ wedding,” Marlie said.

Attorney-General and Minister for Justice Yvette D’Ath said the Brisbane Registry’s inner city location would enable newly-wed couples to trick or treat their guests to further celebrations at nearby restaurants, hotels and bars, well into the midnight hour.

“The experienced celebrants at the Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages endeavour to take the potential nightmare away from arranging a wedding ceremony all year around,” Mrs D’Ath said.

“Our professional team provides personalised service to cater for couples’ special requests across every festive celebration and season – be it Halloween, Valentine’s Day or Spring – with an emphasis on keeping ceremonies stylish yet affordable.

“The team ensures the modern venue is suitably decorated for the day, with a few thoughtful extras to make ceremonies even more memorable.

“September and October are the most popular months for registry weddings and, of course, Valentine’s Day is the most romantic day to tie the knot.

“Opportunities for 14 February 2020 nuptials are quickly running out. Couples have until 13 January 2020 to have an interview appointment with the registry to organise their ceremony—if they don’t book out sooner,” Mrs D’Ath said.

“Special dates are also popular for wedding bookings. For example, each month this year the registry has been heavily booked on the 19th day—such as 19/10/19, 19/09/19. Next year the registry already has several bookings for 20/02/20.”

The Brisbane Registry is Queensland’s top wedding venue, hosting 2,017 of the state’s 23,113 nuptials during 2018-19.

“Due to popular demand, the registry now opens its doors every Thursday, 8.30am to 9.15am, for couples to meet our celebrants, tour our two ceremony rooms, and take in the picturesque Brisbane views,” Mrs D’Ath said.

Wedding ceremonies are held Monday to Saturday (excluding Wednesday), with extended hours on Friday and Saturday for early evening ceremonies.

A registry ceremony costs $350 during weekday business hours, $455 on Saturdays, and $600 for Friday and Saturday early evening ceremonies.
