NLC

The Chair of the NLC, Mr Samuel Bush-Blanasi, today announced the appointment Mr Joe Martin-Jard as Chief Executive Officer.

“I am pleased to advise the NLC Executive Council has unanimously resolved to appoint Joe as CEO, effective immediately.” Mr Bush-Blanasi said.

Mr Martin-Jard has been Acting CEO since 16 July 2021, following the departure of former CEO, Ms Marion Scrymgour.

Born and raised in the Northern Territory, Mr Martin-Jard’s family ties are to the Kamilaroi people of southern Queensland.

Mr Martin-Jard has extensive qualifications in education and business management, including a Bachelor of Teaching and a Masters in International Management, both from Charles Darwin University.

“Joe has done an excellent job as Acting CEO. His appointment will ensure stability and consistency in the management of NLC and, alongside me as Chair, as the Accountable Authority.”

Prior to joining the NLC, Mr Martin-Jard was CEO of the Central Land Council.

The term of the appointment is for three years.

“This has been a tough year. We have been fighting COVID in our remote communities. Joe and I have worked closely together to keep our people safe and to keep the Land Council operating”.

“With Joe’s appointment as CEO, we can stay focussed on the health and wellbeing of NLC staff, Council Members and Aboriginal people across the NLC region.”

“I would like to personally congratulate Joe on his appointment. I would also like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a safe and peaceful Christmas and New Year,” said Mr Bush-Blanasi.
