The NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service is asking for feedback on the Macleay Coast Destination draft master plan, which is now on public exhibition.
NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service Director for North Coast Russell Madeley said the master plan outlines proposed works to improve the range and quality of experiences on offer in Arakoon National Park and Hat Head National Park.
‘The project will include a revitalisation of the Trial Bay campground including new walking tracks, picnic shelters and upgraded access roads, amenities and campsites,’ said Mr Madeley.
‘At Little Bay, new family friendly walking and bike paths along with upgraded visitor facilities will revive this precinct as a favoured location for family gatherings.
‘The Cardwell Street beach access will become a key attraction for day visitors in the future, with improved parking and facilities.
‘We’re also planning to address the growing demand for bushwalking opportunities through the creation of a coastal walk between Trial Bay and Smoky Cape, which will provide stunning views over the coastline.
‘Public exhibition of this draft master plan provides an opportunity for members of the community to have their say on the proposed works.
‘We look forward to hearing community feedback on this master plan,’ Mr Madeley said.
What is being proposed?
The NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service is committed to improving and modernising visitor facilities in these parks to enhance the experience of visitors and locals alike.
Plans include the development of new walking tracks, amenities blocks, shelters and upgraded access roads at the Trial Bay campground.
At Little Bay, enhanced facilities and new family-friendly walking and bike paths will reinvigorate this cherished precinct as a favoured location for family gatherings.
Bushwalkers will rejoice at the prospect of a spectacular new coastal walking track between Little Bay and Smoky Cape.
This exciting project will boost the regional visitor economy, with new nature-based and heritage experiences enticing visitors to stay longer in the region and strengthening the Macleay Coast’s appeal as a year-round quality destination.
