Construction is underway on Stage 2 of the Manning Hospital Redevelopment, marking a major step forward in delivering a contemporary new health facility for communities across Taree and the wider Manning region.
The redevelopment is part of the Minns Labor Government’s $180 million Lower Mid North Coast Health Service project and includes construction of a new clinical services building, boosting health services and supporting high-quality care.
New artist’s impressions released today, showcase the new facility which is due for completion in 2028.
The new clinical services building features an inpatient unit across three storeys, with a six-bed coronary care unit to support cardiac patients, a pharmacy, pathology spaces, and a new mortuary, along with enhanced connections to the existing hospital building.
Following extensive design development and community feedback, the final scope of the project has been increased. As a result, the project will deliver:
- a full fit-out of pathology, pharmacy and mortuary spaces, ensuring these critical services are operational and integrated from day one
- construction of the loading dock, improving logistics, safety and service efficiency
- a more integrated internal connection to the existing hospital building
The design also includes an additional level within the clinical services building to enable future expansion of health services.
Hansen Yuncken has been appointed as the main works contractor, following a competitive tender process.
The hospital will remain operational during construction, with careful planning carried out to minimise impacts on patients, staff and the community.
The previous Coalition Government failed to adequately fund the Manning Base Redevelopment stage 2, jeopardising this project. The Minns Labor Government undertook the necessary planning to ensure this important health service was saved for the community.
The Minns Government’s $180 million Lower Mid North Coast Health Services project will enhance health care services in the Taree and the wider Manning Valley region. Plans are also continuing for an urgent care centre in Forster-Tuncurry as part of the project.
After the Coalition failed to deliver or properly fund major hospital projects around the state, the Minns Labor Government is making record investments to deliver more hospitals, more beds and save the health services the Coalition jeopardised.
The Minns Labor Government is investing $11.9 billion to deliver 32 new or upgraded hospitals.
