An important milestone has been reached in the remediation of Calvary Mater Newcastle, with cladding replacement works now complete on the Mater Institute building as well as on the southern façade of South Block, home to a range of critical health services and clinical support functions.
The milestone marks significant progress in the NSW Government’s broader remediation program at Calvary Mater Newcastle, which was established to address infrastructure issues identified across the campus.
Earlier this year, the NSW Government intervened to undertake critical remediation works. The project involves replacing non-compliant external cladding with a compliant facade system across the campus.
The upgraded façade will improve the long-term performance, resilience and durability of the building and support a safer, more reliable healthcare environment for patients, staff and visitors.
Calvary Mater Newcastle remains operational throughout construction, with Health Infrastructure working closely with Hunter New England Local Health District, hospital staff and contractors to safely deliver the works while maintaining essential healthcare services and minimising disruption to patients, staff and visitors.
Further works are continuing across the campus as part of the NSW Government’s commitment to maintaining safe, reliable and fit-for-purpose health facilities for the Hunter community.
