Police are appealing for public assistance after $23,000 worth of equipment was stolen from a surf sports club in Wollongong on the weekend.
About 3.15am yesterday (Sunday 17 October 2021), members of the public alerted police after observing a one of the club’s buggies being driven by someone at Bulli Beach, before it became bogged in the sand.
Officers from Wollongong Police District attended a short time later and located the buggy unattended.
With the assistance of the members of the public, police removed the buggy from the sand and drove it back to the club’s premises on Trinity Row.
On inspection, police saw the premises had been broken into and a number of items had been stolen, including a surf rescue board and a mega-phone.
The stolen items, including the buggy, are estimated to be worth about $23,000.
As investigations into the incident continue, police would like to speak to two males who may be able to assist them.
The first male is described as being of Caucasian appearance with dark-coloured hair, and was last seen wearing a beige jumper, blue jeans, black shoes and a dark baseball cap.
The second male is described as being of Caucasian appearance. He was last seen wearing a grey hooded jumper, grey pants, dark grey boots and a fluoro orange backpack around his shoulder.
