Three men will appear in court tomorrow, charged with a number of offences after a police car was rammed in Canley Vale today.
About 10am (Thursday 21 November 2019), officers attached to Fairfield City Police Area Command observed a blue BMW Sedan, with alleged stolen number plates, parked on the grass kerb on Palmerston Street.
The driver of the vehicle allegedly had his face covered with a balaclava, while the two occupants were also allegedly wearing hoods to conceal their faces.
As police approached the vehicle, the driver accelerated from the kerb and drove towards Canley Vale Road, before turning into Sackville Street and then onto the wrong side of Freeman Avenue.
Police observed the vehicle driving towards them on Freeman Avenue before the BMW collided with both the police car and a parked, green Toyota Camry.
The two male passengers, aged 24 and 25, fled from the car, and after a short foot pursuit, were arrested in a nearby carpark in Canley Vale. The 24-year-old driver was arrested at the scene.
All three males were taken to Fairfield Police Station.
The two passengers, from Yagoona, were charged with be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner. They were refused bail to appear at Fairfield Local Court tomorrow (Friday 22 November 2019).
The driver, from Chester Hill, was charged with armed with intent commit indictable offence, drive conveyance taken without consent of owner, steal motor vehicle, drive recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous, use offensive weapon in company to prevent detention and unlawfully possess thing resembles etc number plate.
He was also refused bail to appear at the same court tomorrow (Friday 22 November 2019).
