NSW police charge man after altercation at hospital at Canterbury

A man will face court next month after he was allegedly found with a number of stolen prescriptions discovered during his arrest after a disturbance at Canterbury Hospital at the weekend.

About 8.20pm on Saturday 12 October 2019, a man had been admitted to the emergency department when he began swearing and yelling aggressively at staff and patients.

He also allegedly threatened staff and attempted to assault security in the ambulance bay of the hospital. Security staff were able to restrain the man until officers from Campsie Police Area Command arrived.

Police will allege they found the man in possession of a number of prescriptions, believed to be taken from a medical centre in Campsie.

No one was physically injured, and no equipment was broken.

The 38-year-old man was arrested and taken to Campsie Police Station where he was charged with affray and goods in custody.

He was granted conditional bail and is due to appear at Burwood Local Court on Tuesday 5 November 2019.
