NSW police charge man after road rage incident

A man has been charged following an alleged road rage incident in Sydney’s west today.

Just after 9am (Sunday 19 April 2020), police were called to Margaret Street, Mays Hill – near Parramatta – following reports of an assault.

Officers from Cumberland Police Area Command attended and found a man suffering head injuries.

Police will allege a Ford Territory and Ford Falcon were involved in a minor collision on the M4 before they stopped in Margaret Street.

The Falcon driver, a 27-year-old man, allegedly punched the Territory driver, a 68-year-old man, in the face, causing him to fall and hit his head.

NSW Ambulance paramedics attended and conveyed the older man to Westmead Hospital for treatment for a laceration to his head. He remains in a stable condition.

The younger man allegedly fled on foot but was arrested nearby a short time later by officers from Cumberland Police Area Command, with assistance from PolAir and the Dog Unit.

The man, from Carlingford, was taken to Westmead Hospital for treatment before being taken to Granville Police Station, where he was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm, possess prohibited drug, affray, licence expired 2-years or more, and negligent driving.

He was refused bail and is due to appear at Liverpool Local Court tomorrow (Monday 20 April 2020).
