A man will face court today charged with reckless wounding after two men were allegedly attacked in Sydney’s CBD last night.
About 11.50pm (Sunday 16 February 2020), two men, aged 46 and 24, drove to a restaurant on Bligh Street, to meet with a contractor.
The older man got out of the vehicle and was confronted by a man, armed with a knife, before allegedly being repeatedly stabbed.
He suffered lacerations to his arms and face before grabbing hold of the knife to stop the attack and suffering a large laceration to his hand.
The younger man came to the injured man’s aid and also suffered a hand laceration before they were both able to detain the armed man and notify police.
Officers from Sydney City Police Area Command attended and arrested a 57-year-old man at the scene.
The injured men were treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics and taken to St Vincent’s Hospital and Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in a stable condition. They are expected to undergo further treatment.
The man was taken to Day Street Police Station and charged with two counts of reckless wounding, two counts assault occasioning actual bodily harm, armed with intent commit indictable offence, and wound person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
He has been refused bail to appear at Central Local Court today (Monday 17 February 2020).
