NSW police charge man with stalking, break and enter at Wollongong

A man will face court today charged with stalking after allegedly breaking into the home of a woman near Wollongong.

About 8.30am Thursday 19 March 2020, a man was allegedly found looking into the front window of a home in East Corrimal and spoke with a woman before leaving.

Police have been told the same man allegedly entered the home between Friday 20 March and Monday 23 March 2020.

In the early hours of Tuesday 24 March 2020, the man allegedly broke into the woman’s home for a second time and touched her as she slept.

The woman screamed and chased the man out of the unit, before reporting the incident to police later that day.

Detectives from Wollongong Police District commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incidents.

About 4pm yesterday (Sunday 29 March 2020), detectives attended a home in East Corrimal and arrested a 21-year-old man.

He was taken to Wollongong Police Station, where he was charged with two counts of aggravated break and enter, and stalk/intimidate.

He was refused bail and is due to face Wollongong Local Court today (Monday 30 March 2020).
