NSW police charge two after police operation at Burwood

A man and woman will face court today following raids at two separate unit blocks in Sydney’s south-west as part of ongoing investigations into the supply of prohibited drugs and guns.

In July this year, detectives from the State Crime Command’s Drug and Firearms Squad established Strike Force Peterlee to investigate the supply of illegal firearms and prohibited drugs across Sydney’s south-west.

Following extensive investigations, strike force detectives, with assistance from the North West Metropolitan Region Operations Support Group (OSG), executed two search warrants at units at Erskineville from 3pm yesterday (Wednesday 17 November 2021).

During the searches, police seized ‘ice’ and cocaine, as well as equipment consistent with the manufacture and supply of prohibited drugs.

Officers also seized mobile phones, a CLA AMG Mercedes Benz vehicle, a prohibited firearm, and several designer watches each valued at $140,000.

All items seized will undergo further forensic examination.

During the operation, two people – a 37-year-old man and 29-year-old woman – were arrested and taken to Mascot Police Station.

The man was charged with two counts of supply prohibited drug (commercial quantity), supply pistol to person unauthorised to possess it, possess prohibited drug and deal with property proceeds of crime.

The woman was charged with two counts of supply prohibited drug (commercial quantity) and deal with property proceeds of crime.

The pair were both refused bail and are due to appear at Central Local Court today (Thursday 18 November 2021).

Investigations under Strike Force Peterlee are continuing.
