NSW police charge two men after a rifle, firearm parts seized at Cowra

Two men will appear at court next month after police seized a rifle, firearm parts and a crossbow in the state’s Central West this week.

About 10.30am (Monday 29 July 2020), officers attached to Western Region Enforcement Squad Chifley and Western Region High Risk Domestic Violence Offenders Team executed two FPO searches simultaneously at a homes in Cowra.

During a search of a home in Bourke Street, Cowra, officers located and seized ammunition casings, firearm parts and a rifle allegedly stolen during a break and enter at Koorawatha in 2019.

Officers searched a home in Victor Street, Cowra, where they located and seized a homemade crossbow and a homemade gel blaster.

Both men were arrested and taken to Cowra Police Station.

The 28-year-old man was charged with possess unregistered firearm, supply unregistered firearm, supply stolen firearm or firearm part, not keep firearm safely, and acquire firearm no licence/ permit (x2).

The 22-year-old man was charged with possess prohibited weapon.

The men were granted conditional bail to appear at Cowra Local Court on Wednesday 19 August 2020.
