NSW police investigate after fatal crash at Ballina

Police are investigating after a fatal two-vehicle crash at Ballina this afternoon.

About 2.30pm (Saturday 8 January 2022), emergency services were called to the Bruxner Highway at Ballina, following reports a Toyota van and a ute had collided.

The driver and sole occupant of the ute – a man believed to be aged in his 60’s – died at the scene.

The driver of the van – a man believed to be aged in his 40’s – was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital with serious injuries.

The male passenger of the van was taken to Lismore Base Hospital with minor injuries.

Officers attached to Richmond Police District established a crime scene and commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.

A report will now be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
