A man will appear in court today following a pursuit in Sydney’s north-west overnight.
About 11.45pm (Friday 14 February), police were called to a unit on William Street, North Richmond, following reports of an assault.
Officers from Hawkesbury Police Area Command attended and found a 26-year-old woman with injuries to her face and cuts to her hands.
Police have been told she was involved in an argument with a 23-year-old man and a 23-year-old woman who had been staying at her property.
The man armed himself with a knife and the younger woman allegedly punched the other woman, causing a suspected broken nose, as well as bruising and swelling to her face and cuts to both hands.
The man and younger woman then left the scene in a blue Mazda 3, and police were alerted.
The 26-year-old woman was taken to Nepean Hospital for treatment and a crime scene was established.
Around 11.50pm, officers attached to the Hawkesbury Highway Patrol saw the Mazda 3, which had allegedly been stolen from the North Richmond address, and engaged in a pursuit on Racecourse Road, Clarendon.
The pursuit continued down Blacktown and Richmond roads, but was terminated immediately when police confirmed that three unrestrained children were inside the car.
A short time later, POL AIR located the car at a property in Craddock Street, Marsden Park, and arrested a 23-year-old man.
He was taken to Riverstone Police Station where he has been charged with drive motor vehicle during disqualification period, and police pursuit – not stop – drive recklessly.
He was refused bail to appear at Parramatta Local Court today (Saturday 15 February 2020).
Police also spoke to a 23-year-old woman at the Marsden Park location. She is assisting police with inquiries.
The children were not injured. A child-at-risk notification will be made.
An investigation into the alleged assault is ongoing.
