A total of seven search warrants were executed across Miles and surrounding areas on September 11 and September 12 as part of an ongoing drug enforcement operation, Operation Romeo Monument.
These warrants were the result of a joint operation between the Miles and Chinchilla general officers, Roma Criminal investigation Branch and Roma rural Major Organised Crime Squad (MOCS).
In total, these seven warrants resulted in five people being charged with a total of thirteen offences.
The offences range from drug possession, including 19.6 grams of methamphetamine, 50 grams of cannabis, unlawful possession of weapons (firearm, butterfly knife and knuckle duster), unlawful possession of drug utensils and possession of explosives (ammunition).
During the search warrants $32,090 was seized.
- A 52-year-old Miles man will appear in the Chinchilla Magistrates Court, charged with possession of dangerous drugs over schedule, possession of property suspected (Australian currency), unlawful possession of weapons (butterfly knife), unlawful possession of restrict drug (Viagra) and drug utensil.
- A 33-year-old Miles man will appear in the Chinchilla Magistrates Court, charged with possession of dangerous drug and possession of drug utensil.
- A 20-year-old Miles woman will appear in the Chinchilla Magistrates Court, charged with possession of dangerous drugs.
- A 40-year-old Miles man will appear in the Chinchilla Magistrates Court, charged with possession of drug utensils.
- A 40-year-old Miles woman will appear in the Chinchilla Magistrates Court, charged with possession of drug utensils.
Detective Inspector Mat Kelly said these types of operations were aimed at reducing harm posed by illicit drugs within rural areas.
“These operations, supported by local intelligence and valuable information from across the community, will continue to be executed across the South West District,” Detective Inspector Kelly said.
“By disrupting criminal behaviour in this way, we aim to deter future offending.”
