NSW’s Central Tablelands will be the backdrop for knight and viking battles when thousands of history buffs descend on Orange for its inaugural Medieval Faire next year.
Running the weekend of 19-20 March 2022, the Orange Medieval Faire will be the biggest sporting and cultural event of its kind to come to regional NSW.
A $200,000 grant from the NSW Government’s Regional Events Acceleration Fund will contribute towards staging the event.
Deputy Premier and Minister for Regional NSW Paul Toole said the medieval faire will boost Orange’s local economy by around $2 million, when it attracts more visitors to spend and stay, and shines a spotlight on what the town has to offer.
“We’re bringing medieval Western Europe to the Central West and staging this world-class event in regional NSW for the very first time,” Mr Toole said.
“Top notch competitors, including Australia’s current world champion Phillip Leitch, will go head-to-head in the jousting championship, which attracts thousands of spectators every year.”
