A focus on creating better outcomes in human health and wellbeing has helped the University of the Sunshine Coast make a major move up the prestigious 2024 Times Higher Education World University Rankings by Subject.
UniSC climbed more than 100 places in the Clinical and Health category in the latest THE subject-specific rankings that assess university performance on the global stage across the key areas of teaching, research, research influence, international outlook and innovation.
UniSC also improved its international standing across a broad range of other subject categories, including Life Sciences, Psychology and Social Science.
UniSC Vice-Chancellor and President, Professor Helen Bartlett, said it was another strong ratings performance that reflected the University’s commitment to innovative research and quality teaching that drove knowledge, action and real impact.
“Our study programs focus on areas of priority and are developed with strong links to industry and community, while our research seeks solutions to some of the most pressing issues we face, now and in the future,” she said.
“This includes advancing our knowledge and treatment of mental health, finding ways to support healthy ageing in our communities and using bio-inspired approaches that lead to new drug discoveries and the rapid diagnosis of disease.”
A more detailed breakdown of the subject rankings show UniSC also made substantial improvements in Communication and Media Studies, Business and Management, and Accounting and Finance.
UniSC’s success in the 2024 Times Higher Education World University Rankings by Subject follows other impressive performances this year.
In the overall Times Higher Education World University Rankings, UniSC moved up over 170 places among more than 1,900 of the world’s universities and recorded the biggest improvement in Australia for research quality.
UniSC was rated first in Queensland and eighth in Australia for overall impact in the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings that assess universities against the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and measure the social and economic influence of an institution.
These global rankings come on the back of UniSC’s recent success in the national Good Universities Guide that found its students are among the most satisfied and engaged learners in Australia.
