The Hodgman Liberal Government has prioritised investment in education and is delivering the biggest ever commitment to education infrastructure in Tasmania’s history.
Around 390 students are set to benefit from the major redevelopment to Parklands High School, which will improve and reconfigure general learning areas for 21st century teaching and learning. This will provide spaces to deliver differentiated and alternative learning opportunities improving student outcomes.
Local building contractors, Stubbs Constructions and architect ARTAS, have completed the job, which enables the school to boast some of the most up to date facilities.
The new learning hub at the centre of the school houses the library, tutorial space, small group and individual study spaces, support staff offices and resource areas.
There’s a new Performing Arts Centre, refurbished fine arts and music hub to create an arts precinct. The centre also has a tiered seating capacity for 250 people, with a purpose built production box, allowing the school to integrate production management skills such as sound and lighting into its curriculum.
The school is excited for current and future students with the focus on engagement and access to quality teaching and learning facilities.
The redevelopment has also provided greater scope and stronger links with the wider community.
A total of $184.2 million is being invested across the state over the forward estimates in capital works which includes new schools, school upgrades, new Early Learning Hubs and school farm redevelopments.
