A pedestrian has died, and a man has been charged following a crash in Sydney’s City this week.
About 6pm on Tuesday 14 July 2026, emergency services were called to Darling Drive, Pyrmont, following reports of a crash.
Officers attached to Sydney City Police Area Command attended and were told a motorcycle had struck a pedestrian.
The pedestrian – an 85-year-old – was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics for head injuries before he was taken to Royal Prince Albert Hospital in a critical condition.
The rider – a 20-year-old – was treated for a dislocated shoulder and taken to Royal Prince Albert Hospital for further treatment and mandatory testing.
Police established a crime scene and commenced an investigation into the circumstances of the crash.
Following inquiries, the 20-year-old man was charged with not stop at stop line at yellow light and unlicensed for Class, Class C, R, LR or MR.
He was granted conditional bail to appear at Downing Centre Local Court on Wednesday 12 August 2026.
Yesterday (Wednesday 15 July 2026), police were informed that the 85-year-old man had died in hospital.
A report will be prepared for the information of the coroner.
