Pine Creek Road fully reopened

Minister for Transport and Main Roads The Honourable Mark Bailey

Pine Creek Road fully reopened

Emergency repairs on Gold Coast Hinterland’s Pine Creek Road are complete, and full access restored.

It is one of several hinterland roads damaged during extreme rainfall this year.

The road was reduced to a single lane in September after heavy rain, including 340mm in one night.

Transport and Main Roads Minister Mark Bailey said emergency crews had been working hard the past few months on repairs.

“Pine Creek Road was significantly damaged in September’s heavy rain, with the area receiving 120mm in just one hour,” Minister Bailey said.

“The damage meant that we had to close Pine Creek Road to one lane temporarily for the safety of drivers.

“It’s been a big job, but the teams on the ground have gotten on with it despite the challenging conditions.”

Assistance will be provided through the jointly funded Commonwealth-State Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements, in partnership with the Albanese Labor Government.

Mr Bailey said reopening the road in full would be great news for the Springbrook community.

“Pine Creek Road has been the access to Springbrook while Gold Coast-Springbrook Road repairs continue, so having it fully reopened will be welcomed by residents, business operators and visitors alike,” he said.

“The community has been so patient with us right across the region, so for that I extend my thanks,

“One of the state’s biggest recovery efforts is underway in the Gold Coast and Scenic Rim regions, so we’ll continue to crack on with repairs as quickly and safely as possible.”
