‘Piperlain’ brings inspiration with their new single ‘Bloom’
Quirky songs carrying universal messages, ‘Bloom’ is the brand new single from Blue Mountains based Folk/Rock duo Piperlain, the first single from the upcoming EP ‘Shine on You’. Recorded at MusicPro Farmstay Studios by engineer Paul Iannuzzelli, at a secret studio location near the Warrumbungle national park, in western New South Wales and mastered at Abbey Road Studios in London by engineer Frank Arkwright.
“Bloom was written after the height of the Covid-19 pandemic. I was inspired by people moving away from the city to rural areas and stories about how people were slowing down, changing pace and reconnecting with what matters most to them. The song is about people rediscovering something special in nature as well as perhaps something forgotten in themselves, and a re prioritisation of what’s important in life. It’s about taking a chance, starting a new life and creating a sustainable path, ”Rebecca Voorn-Knight”.
Recorded on-site in the Warrumbungles, surrounded by nature and farmland, ‘Bloom’ captures a more organic sound. The result is an enchanting song with rhythmic percussive elements embraced by elegant piano and lofty, honest vocals.Piperlain combines the sounds of indie, alternative pop/folk/rock with emotive, passionate vocals.
Formed by singer/songwriters Benjamin Knight and Rebecca Voorn-Knight, the Piperlain sound has been compared to a contemporary version of The Cranberries and The Corrs with similarities to Sarah Blasko and Josh Pyke. Piperlain made the finals of the B&T Madweek Battle of the Bands where they received commendation from Sony on live performance and songwriting talent. In 2017 Piperlain released the concept album ‘Mother Mourned’, which recounts the personal and emotional journey of two people growing up with and caring for mothers with serious illnesses.

Receiving positive praise from industry professionals and media outlets, ‘Bloom’ follows the 2021 release of the EP ‘Time’, which highlighted the breadth of the duo’s songwriting abilities. In 2022 ‘Time’ was nominated for an AIR award and Piperlain were an official entrant in the 2022 ARIA awards. ‘Bloom’ is the first single from the upcoming EP ‘Shine on You’ which will be released in February.
