Police are responding to fatal collision in South Morang

Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives are investigating a fatal collision in South Morang this afternoon.

It is understood a black Toyota Kluger and white Mercedes sedan collided at the intersection of Plenty Road and Belle Vue Road about 2.50pm on Friday 3 June.

The Toyota then flipped and struck a small hatchback.

Sadly, the driver and sole occupant of the hatchback, a 68-year-old South Morang man, died at the scene.

The driver of the Toyota a 64-year-old Doreen woman was taken to hospital under police guard for observation.

The passenger of the Toyota, a 67-year-old Northcote woman, was also taken to hospital for observation.

The occupants of the Mercedes were also taken to hospital for observation.

Police have established a crime scene while they investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision.
