Police arrest man at Glenelg North

A man was arrested after allegedly breaking into cars at Glenelg North overnight.

Police were called to Adelphi Crescent, Glenelg North about 3.45am on Wednesday 4 October by reports of a man breaking into a vehicle.

It will be alleged the man threatened the witness with a knife before taking off on a motorcycle.

The witness wasn’t injured during the incident and was able to provide police with a description of the rider.

Police spotted the suspect and motorcycle a few minutes later at an Anzac Highway service station, however, the male rode off again and was seen to turn into Alison Street.

Police Dog Echo and his handler searched the area and located the parked bike in a block of units in Alison Street and the suspect nearby.

A 40-year-old Glenelg North man was arrested and charged with assault, unlawful threats, two counts of interfere with a motor vehicle and illegal use.

Checks revealed the motorcycle had been reported stolen from North Haven on 14 September.

Investigations are continuing.

The man was refused police bail and will appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court later today.
