Police arrest two after stolen car tracked to Smithfield

Police have arrested two men over a stolen car at Smithfield this morning.

Just after 10.30am on Saturday 22 April, police were alerted to a stolen white Mazda CX5 being driven around the Angle Vale area.

The Mazda had been stolen from a North Plympton home on 18 April.

PolAir was brought in to assist patrols search for the stolen car and it was picked up travelling east on Curtis Road a short time later.

The stolen car was tracked as it continued east over Peachey Road and turned into Coventry Road.

Patrols successfully spiked the Mazda’s tyres on Anderson Walk. The vehicle then drove on to the wrong side of the road, narrowly missing a member of the public’s car before going over a grass verge and colliding with a car parked in the Smithfield Railway Station.

Two men immediately ran from the car with one of the suspects attempting to board a nearby bus; however both men were quickly apprehended.
