Police catch runaway driver

Hume Crime Investigation Unit detectives have charged a man after he allegedly drove off from police in repeated incidents over several nights.

Police attempted to intercept a black Holden Commodore sedan numerous times on Tuesday and Wednesday in Campbellfield and Roxburgh Park, but the driver refused to stop on each occasion.

Police located the vehicle about 1am on Wednesday 2 December before following it until it came to a stop at a residence in Davidson Street, Reservoir.

When police approached the driver of the car he attempted to flee on foot, jumping over several fences before he was arrested.

A 46-year-old Reservoir man has been charged with conduct endangering life, negligent driving whilst being pursued by police, suspended driving, contravene conduct conditions of bail and commit an indicatable offence whilst on bail.

He will face the Broadmeadows’ Magistrates’ Court today.
