A woman has been charged with high-range drink driving following a crash in Sydney’s south west overnight.
Just after 10pm (Friday 14 May 2021), emergency services were called to the M5 at Casula, after receiving reports about the manner of driving of a Subaru Impreza.
Near the Moorebank Avenue intersection, the Subaru reportedly collided with a Holden Cruze and a Mazda sedan, a short time later. Both drivers were uninjured.
The Subaru continued travelling eastbound, on the incorrect side of the road and near the intersection of Heathcote Road, collided head-on with a Hyundai iLoad van.
The driver of the Hyundai was not injured; however, both vehicles were significantly damaged, closing the M5.
Officers from Liverpool City Police Area Command attended, along with NSW Ambulance paramedics, Fire and Rescue NSW, and TMC.
The Subaru driver, a 37-year-old woman, was assessed at the scene by paramedics.
The woman was subjected to a roadside breath test which returned a positive result.
She was arrested and taken to Liverpool Police Station where she underwent a breath analysis which returned an alleged reading of 0.167, more than three times the legal limit.
The was charged with high range PCA, drive recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous, two counts of not give particulars to other driver, and three counts of negligent driving. Her licence was also suspended.
She is due to appear at Liverpool Local Court on Wednesday 9 June 2021.
