Police Charge Man After Armed Robbery – Warrawong

Police have charged a man, following an armed robbery in the Illawarra, last year.

Strike Force Cullenya was established to investigate the circumstance surrounding the armed robbery.

Just after 1pm (Tuesday 18 April 2023), police responded to Kemblawarra Street, Warrawong, following reports two people allegedly threatened a worker with a machete and assaulted him, before stealing his mobile phone and cash and fleeing the scene in an alleged stolen white Audi sedan.

Officers attached to Lake Illawarra Police District responded, and a crime scene was established and examined by specialist forensic police.

Yesterday (Wednesday 13 March 2024), officers attended a correctional facility in Cessnock and charged a 39-year-old man with robbery in company and take and drive conveyance without consent.

The man will appear in Wollongong Local Court on Wednesday 17 April 2024.

As investigation continue, Police are appealing to the public for information, with a second person still outstanding.

He is described as a male with his face covered, wearing a black hoodie and yellow shoe laces.
