Police charge man after Ascot Vale stabbing

Moonee Valley Crime Investigation Unit detectives have charged a man following an incident in Ascot Vale on Monday 8 August.

It’s alleged an altercation occurred between three people, known to one another, outside a property on Churchill Avenue about 6pm.

A 46-year-old man from Moonee Ponds and a 60-year-old woman from Ascot Vale both sustained stab wounds during the incident and were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The male victim has since been released and the woman remains in hospital.

A 56-year-old Ascot Vale man was arrested on Tuesday afternoon during a police intercept in Kensington Road, Kensington, about 2pm.

He has been charged with false imprisonment, two counts of intentionally cause injury, two counts of reckless conduct endangering serious injuries, two counts of assault with weapon, make threat to kill and fail to stop on police request.

He has been remanded to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court this morning.
