A man has been charged following an investigation into a knife attack in Ultimo earlier this month.
About 8pm on Sunday 20 January 2020, emergency services were called to George Street, near Broadway, following reports a man had been attacked with a large knife.
NSW Ambulance paramedics attended and treated a 24-year-old man for a laceration to his leg before he was taken to St Vincent’s Hospital for knee surgery.
Officers from Sydney City Police Area Command established a crime scene and commenced an investigation.
Following inquiries, an arrest warrant for a 22-year-old man was issued at Downing Centre Local Court on Wednesday 22 January 2020.
About 4.30pm yesterday (Friday 31 January 2020) police attended a unit complex on Walker Street, Redfern and arrested the man.
He was taken to Day Street Police Station and charged with wound person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
The man was refused bail to appear via video link at Parramatta Local Court today (Saturday 1 February 2020).
