Police charge man with fraud totalling about $10 million in Eastern Suburbs PAC

A man has been charged by Eastern Suburbs police with fraud offences involving about $10 million.

In February 2019, a report was made to officers from Eastern Suburbs Police Area Command regarding anomalies concerning the administration of trust monies from a law firm account.

Inquiries commenced, during which several instances of alleged fraudulent misappropriation of trust funds was uncovered.

It’s alleged a 63-year-old man – who is a lawyer at the law firm – used the funds to pay for property, a car, and invest in self-managed superannuation funds.

Following extensive inquiries, about 8am today (Friday 22 November 2019), the Bondi Junction man was arrested at Waverley Police Station.

He has been charged with 15 offences including dishonestly obtain financial benefit by deception (x9), and knowingly deal with proceeds of crime (x6).

He was refused bail to appear at Waverley Local Court today (Friday 22 November 2019).
