Police charge woman after dog found seriously injured in Kingswood

A woman has been charged after a dog was found seriously injured at a unit in Sydney’s west today.

About 4pm (Monday 18 November 2019), officers from Nepean Police Area Command were called to a unit on Park Avenue, Kingswood, following reports of a verbal dispute.

Police arrived and spoke with the occupant, before they found a dog that was unable to stand or walk.

Two dogs – a male and female Staffordshire terrier – were seized by RSPCA officers and taken to a shelter, where the injured male dog received urgent treatment for his injuries, and the female dog was assessed.

An 18-year-old woman was arrested at the scene and taken to Penrith Police Station where she was charged with being in charge of an animal fail to provide vet treatment.

Police will allege the dog suffered the injuries after falling from a second storey balcony and was not provided adequate veterinarian treatment after the incident.

She was granted conditional bail and is expected to appear before Penrith Local Court on Monday 9 December 2019.

Both dogs have been surrendered into the care of RSPCA.
