A youth is in custody following an alleged attempted armed robbery this morning.
Shortly after 9:20 am this morning, a male entered a chemist in North Hobart carrying a pair of scissors and threatening staff.
The male attempted to pry open the cash register before fleeing the store empty handed. Staff were not physically injured but were understandably shaken by the incident.
Officers from Hobart Uniform saturated the area and within 20 minutes a 17 year old male was taken into custody for Attempted Armed Robbery.
The scene is currently being processed and Detectives from Hobart CIB will interview the youth later today.
