Police investigating wounding at Burleigh Heads

A 24-year-old man has been charged after he allegedly cut another man with a knife on Tallebudgera Bridge last night.

Just after 8:30pm, a 43-year-old man was skateboarding along the bridge where the 24-year-old man was fishing.

The pair became involved in an argument after the older man stated the fishing lines were blocking the path.

The older man allegedly hit the man with a fishing rod and a physical fight took place where the 24-year-old man allegedly cut him multiple times with the fishing knife he was holding.

The man called paramedics and left the scene to a nearby campsite. He later returned and surrendered himself to police.

Paramedics transported the 43-year-old man to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

A 24-year-old Pimpama man was charged with one count of wounding. He was granted police bail to appear in Southport Magistrates Court on January 22.
