Police lay armed robbery charges at Booval

Detectives from Ipswich CIB have charged two people with armed robbery after a tobacconist was robbed at Booval overnight.

It will be alleged at 6.50pm two people entered the Brisbane Road store and threatened the female staff member with a firearm.

They demanded cash and cigarettes before leaving in a black Mazda 3.

At 12.40am, police located the vehicle with two people inside parked at Springfield. A search of the car located the cigarettes and cash.

A 36-year-old East Ipswich man has been charged with two counts each of armed robbery and possession of dangerous drug (heroin and methylamphetamine) and one count of enter premises with intent to commit indicatable offence.

A 46-year-old Silkstone woman has been charged with two counts of armed robbery and three counts of enter premises and commit indictable offence.

They will both appear in the Ipswich Magistrates Court today, February 1.
