Police lay charges – Aggravated robbery in Darwin 7 June

Northern Territory Police have charged two men after an aggravated robbery in Darwin City on Sunday night.

At around 9:45pm, three males entered a licenced premises on Mitchell Street. One male allegedly assaulted an employee before threatening them with an edged weapon. The offenders then allegedly stole a quantity of alcohol before threatening another member of staff with an edged weapon and fleeing the scene.

An 18-year-old man was arrested yesterday afternoon by detectives from Strike Force Trident and has since been charged with one count of aggravated robbery. He was bailed to appear in Darwin Local Court 23 of June 2022.

A 22-year-old male was arrested yesterday morning and has also been charged with one count of aggravated robbery. He was remanded to appear in Darwin Local Court today.

A 21-year-old male has been identified by detectives and enquiries are underway to locate him.

Acting Sergeant Dale Motter-Barnard said, “This was an incredibly confronting situation for the employees, all over a small quantity of alcohol. Luckily no one was seriously injured.”
